-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M57 (Non-AMT) shows the CTRL+P prompt, AMT Sub-Menu and AMT Driver - ThinkCentre M57 (type 6062, 6065, 6071, 6076, 6089, 9182, 6019, 6066, 6072, 6077, 6087, 9181, 6008, 6068, 6074, 6079, 6082, 9172, 6010, 6069, 6075, 6081, 6086, 9174)

| M57 (Non-AMT), you may have three possible questions for the following:
- BIOS 2RKT28A or earlier BIOS versions, you will find an AMT Sub-Menu in the BIOS Setup "Advanced" page.
- When the M57 boots up, after the "ThinkCentre" logo, you will see a "CTRL+P" Option. If the you select"CTRL+P", the MEBx interface will be shown.
- M57 is a Non-AMT model, but the AMT drivers are still needed to prevent a yellow bang from showing in Device Manager. With some M57 preloads or after the installation of AMT driver, there may be a pop-up window when booting into Windows Vista/XP to show the AMT status.
Affected configurationsAny of the following systems running Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows Vista:
- ThinkCentre M57(type 6062, 6065, 6071, 6076, 6089, 9182, 6019, 6066, 6072, 6077, 6087, 9181, 6008, 6068, 6074, 6079, 6082, 9172, 6010, 6069, 6075, 6081, 6086, 9174)
SolutionSymptom 1 above:
BIOS versions after 2RKT28A have corrected this issue. The BIOS will hide the "AMT Sub-Menu" for Non-AMT systems.
Download the current BIOS version HERE
LimitationSymptom #2 above is a limitation.
M57 systems will show the "CTRL+P" prompt, enter the MEBx with the default password 'admin'. After changing the default password, you will be able to view and change some settings, but the MEBx interface for the M57 is different from the M57p (AMT model).
MEBx Main Menu:
M57, AMT is disabled, so the M57 has no "AMT Configuration" item. You cannot configure any AMT settings.
MEBx -> ME Platform Configuration
On M57, there is no "ME feature Control" item, so you cannot enable AMT.
You can update the ME FW on your M57, but just to update the ME code. The configuration (e.g. AMT enable/disable) cannot be updated or refreshed by updating the FW. You can also change the ME Power Control. The default on M57 is "Desktop: On in S0", which means the ME will be active only in S0 power state. Changing this setting will increase power consumption, but have no other effect on the system's function.
Symptom #3 above is a limitation.
M57 systems have no AMT features, but still need the ME for Intel® QuietSystem Technology (Intel® QST). The thermal solution Intel® QST is controlled by the ME. The ME has an interface to the operating system, named HECI (Host Embedded Controller Interface). This interface needs a driver (HECI driver). On an M57, the AMT features in ME are disabled, but the AMT host interface still exists.
This interface needs the Local Management Service (LMS), Serial Over Lan (SOL) LMS_SOL drivers. Otherwise, there will be a yellow bang in Device Manager.
The pop-up window can be disabled by running "C:\Program Files\Intel\AMT\disable.reg". This will stop the application, when Windows boots, to disable the pop-up window.
A new driver, without the pop-up window, has been built and released to the preload for M57 and M57p. This new driver, without the pop-up window, will be released on our website for both M57 and M57p.
The above information will be updated once the new driver has been released to the Lenovo support web site. |
